St John the Divine, Burnett Heads
St John the Divine at Burnett Heads will be celebrating the refurbishment of its church Saturday 25th July and Sunday 26th July 2026. A dedication of renovations service will be held at 6pm Saturday, all welcome. An open day for anyone to visit the church will be held Sunday 26th July (8am - 12 noon), with tours and talks on the works completed and history of our beloved community church.
This renovation was partly funded under the Bundaberg Regional Council’s Our Stories Our Places Heritage and Character Grant Program, and supplementary funds provided by donations and the local Guild. Work was mainly completed by volunteers.
Works involved included:
Complete window refurbishments both internally and externally, including matching missing stained glass pieces, renewing window frames and latches
Patching and repainting church exterior
Repairs to bell tower
New doors on ancillary building
Signage repairs
Garden watering system repairs
Relocation of boundary fence to support surveyed boundaries
Tree lopping for safety
This project was led and managed by Neil Phythian, with many thanks from all involved.
